Refresh your interior:
Our interior painting process ensures that your walls are well-prepared before a paint can is ever opened. Whether you have drywall, plaster, or horsehair plaster walls, we ensure the final finish and color are gorgeous. And because choosing a color can stump the best of us, we offer (free) in-home color consultation to help you choose colors that you’ll love.
The Interior Painting Process:
Step 1 - Color Consultation (Complimentary!)
- Free, in-home design consultation.
- Narrow down colors to a few paint choices that work well with your furnishings.
- Designer works with your preferences.
- The customers who work with the designer tend to have the happiest outcomes.
Step 2 - Protect the Area
- Furniture is moved away from the walls and draped with plastic.
- Drop cloths and/or rosin paper are put down on the floors
Step 3 - Prepare Surfaces
- Holes and cracks in walls and ceiling are filled.
- If wallpaper is involved, it is removed and walls are skimmed.
- Peeling paint is scraped.
- Walls and trim are now smoother and ready to be painted.
Step 4 - Apply New Paint
- Only premium paint is used for smooth and lasting results.
- A range of sheens can be applied including flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss and high-gloss.
- We'll recommend the best sheen for your home's lighting and foot traffic.
Step 5 - Clean Up
- The paint is left to dry for a few hours.
- Only after the paint has completely dried will the paint color be accurate.
- Tools, drop cloths, tape and equipment are removed.
- Floors are vacuumed and furniture returned its original position.
Step 6 - Walk Through Inspection
- A supervisor will walk you around to ensure everything looks good.
- This is the time to point out touch ups and give feedback.

Frequently Asked Questions About Interior Painting Projects
How soon can you send a painting crew to start my South Shore home’s interior?
- We post our current painting and home improvement timeframes here.
- Generally, we paint customers on a first-come, first-served basis (usually within 2-3 weeks of receiving your deposit).
- Still, understand that sometimes things come up, and you must complete your interior painting by a deadline. Let us know your deadline, and we can meet it most often.
- There is never an extra charge to do the project in a rush.
Can someone help me move my furniture?
- Yes, the painting professionals we send will move heavy furniture to the center of the room and then move it back when the project is complete.
How much will it cost to paint my home’s interior?
- Here’s our interior pricing guide – these are average prices, and once we see your specific interior project, we’ll be able to give you a firm quote.
- If you’d like a firm quote, you can schedule one here.
How long will it take to paint my home’s interior?
- The time it takes to paint your home’s interior depends on the size of the painting project and the size of the crew we put on your project.
- In general, our average crew of 3 painters can paint two 12 x 12 rooms (walls and trim) per day.
- With both large and small painting professional crews to choose from, we can schedule a larger crew on a project if you need it done faster.
How does an interior painting project usually progress?
- Painters move the furniture to the center of the room(s) and drape the furniture with plastic.
- Colors are sampled and finalized, and wall preparation (sanding, filling holes) begins.
- Holes in drywall, plaster, or horsehair plaster are repaired and sanded.
- Wood trim is sanded
- Primer is applied either as a spot prime on areas that were repaired or as a full prime when changing wall color drastically.
