Let us refresh your interior:
Our interior painting process ensures that your walls are well-prepared before we ever open a paint can. Whether you have drywall, plaster, or horsehair plaster walls, our painters ensure the final finish and color are gorgeous. And because choosing a color can stump the best of us, we offer (free) in-home color consultation to help you choose colors that you’ll love for years to come. See our residential painting frequently asked questions page for more information about how we treat our South Shore and Boston Clients to the best painting experience in the Boston area.
Our Interior Painting Process
From start to finish, you can depend on CertaPro Painters® to deliver on our promise of care, quality, value, and certainty. This is what defines professionalism and an extraordinary painting experience. We work in the Boston area, on the South Shore, and in the towns surrounding Plymouth and Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
Step 1 - Color Consultation (Complimentary!)
Our designer, Kate Rafoth, helps you choose colors that work with your existing furnishings. Kate has an education in interior design and worked as Sherwin Williams’ color expert before working with us. Kate can help you narrow down colors to a few paint choices that will work well with your furnishings. She will never push you into colors you’re not comfortable with but will help expand your options to colors you might not have chosen without guidance.
Step 2 - Protect the Area
On your project start day, the crew will begin by prepping the home's interior to protect surfaces while the project is underway. Furniture will be moved away from the walls, drop cloths will be put down around the perimeter, and masking tape will be applied to edges and trim. We also protect floors with drop cloths to ensure the paint does not get on the floor and equipment does not scratch the surfaces.
Step 3 - Prepare Surfaces
Next, the crew prepares walls and ceilings by filling in holes, dents, and cracks. This step may also include removing wallpaper or peeling paint. Rough areas are sanded to smooth out the surface. Once complete, the walls are smoother and ready to be painted.
Step 4 - Apply New Paint
We use premium quality paint products for smooth and long-lasting results. Interior walls have a range of sheens and finishes, including flat, matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, and high gloss, each with its pros and cons. During your initial estimate appointment, our project estimator will help you determine the best finish for your project. Our crews work quickly and efficiently and deliver consistently professional results.
Step 5 - Clean Up
After painting, the paint is left to dry for a few hours. The crew will use this time to clean the area of tools, drop cloths, tape, and other interior painting equipment. We vacuum and return furniture to its original position.
Step 6 - Walk Through Inspection
You will have an opportunity to review the completed work on your own, then be walked around with a CertaPro Painters Job Site Supervisor to review the completed project. This is an opportunity to give feedback and point out areas that need touching up.
Our Interior Services
In addition to painting, we can help with a variety of interior projects for your home. See below for an overview of our interior service lines.

We install crown and dental moldings, wainscot, and other decorative interior moldings to give your home a polished look. We can even install "picture framing" beneath a chair rail to give the look of expensive molding at a fraction of the cost.
Drywall, plaster, and horsehair plaster repair
We can prepare and repair your drywall, plaster, and horsehair plaster walls before painting them. Whether your walls have water damage or if they have holes and dents that need patching and sanding, we'll create a smooth surface before we paint.
Epoxy Finishes to your concrete floor
Epoxy coatings help your garage, and basement floors seem polished and more “finished.” By locking in the concrete dust that gets kicked up when people drive or walk on concrete, these coatings can keep the rest of your home cleaner as well.
We can paint your interior walls, baseboard, trim, and doors, and moldings. Our (free) interior color consultant can work with you in your home to choose colors you love and that work with your current furnishings.
Kitchen Cabinet Painting
Painting outdated kitchen cabinets makes your home instantly more modern and provides a huge "boost" to the feel of your entire home. Our complimentary in-home designer will sample cabinet colors that look great with your current kitchen counters.
Popcorn Ceiling Removal
While popcorn ceilings had their time on top trends lists, they are rarely seen in modern homes. Removing a popcorn ceiling yourself can be extremely difficult. The crew at CertaPro Painters® of the South Shore and Bostonis trained to remove popcorn ceilings in an effective way that will leave your ceilings feeling fresh. Because popcorn ceilings trap dirt and dust, this is a popular project for allergy sufferers!

Frequently Asked Questions About Interior Painting Projects
How soon can you paint my South Shore home’s interior?
We get this question all the time, so we post our current painting timeframes here. Generally, we paint customers on a first-come, first-served basis (usually within 2-3 weeks of receiving your deposit). Still, we understand that sometimes things come up, and you must complete your interior painting by a deadline. Let us know your deadline, and most often, we can meet it.
How much will it cost to paint my home’s interior?
Here’s our interior pricing guide – these are average prices, and once we get to your specific interior project, we’ll be able to give you a firm quote. If you’d like a firm quote, you can schedule one here.
How long will it take to paint my home’s interior?
The time it takes to paint your home’s interior depends on the size of the painting project and the size of the crew we put on your project. In general, our average crew of 3 painters can paint two 12 x 12 rooms (walls and trim) per day. Because we have both large and small painting crews, we can put a larger crew on a project if you need it done faster.
Here’s a general idea of how an interior project progresses:
- Painters move the furniture to the center of the room(s) and drape the furniture with plastic.
- Colors sampled and finalized, and wall preparation begins.
- Holes in drywall, plaster or horsehair plaster are repaired and sanded.
- Wood trim is sanded
- Primer is applied either as a spot prime on areas that were repaired, or as a full prime when changing wall color drastically.
- 1-2 coats of premium paint are applied to walls and trim.
- Touch ups are done after customer inspection is complete.
What’s included in my CertaPro Painters’ interior painting quote?
Our painting professionals help you with design and color guidance, offer fresh and modern ideas, explore different door and trim options, and explain paint formulas and sheens to match your lifestyle. And because we’ve worked on the South Shore and Boston area for more than two decades, we’re experienced in suggesting authentic paint colors for historic homes.

Painting certain colors can increase the value of your home.
Selling your house is a numbers game – the more people that find your home appealing, the more likely you will fetch your asking, or these days, over-asking price.
Furniture, drapery, lighting, then paint – decorating in the correct order.
Because paint colors can be easily matched to your fabrics, selecting the paint after choosing your upholstery and fabrics and have your lighting in place is so much easier.
