Living Room Painting

Interior Living Room Painting

Painting can help refresh the place where you gather with family and friends.

color selection
To choose colors for an open floor plan, choose a few colors from the same paint strip. This way, all of the colors will flow nicely throughout the floor plan.

Choosing your living room wall, trim, bookcases, and cabinets colors can be daunting. Your living room walls should “flow” with the rest of your home also be distinctive. Lots of South Shore homes contain open floor plans, which makes your color choice even trickier. Our free, in-home color consultant can help you choose colors that coordinate with your current living room furnishings, so you don’t have to buy a new couch after you paint your walls.

Some things to think about when painting your living room:

For homes with open floor plans, choose tones of the same color for all of the “open rooms.” This way, the wall colors in adjacent rooms will be similar and not “jarring.” The easiest way to do this yourself is to use a color fan deck (available at hardware stores) and choose colors from the same color strip.

For Boston-area living rooms with beautiful ocean, lake or wooded views, choose a neutral living room wall color to allow your stunning view to be the “hero” in the room.

White or cream semi-gloss paint on cabinets, molding, and trim can reveal the woodwork and craftsmanship’s intricacies.

If your living room windows are North-facing, cooler light will naturally fill your room. Choose living room wall colors that intensify with a bluish glow.

South-facing living rooms are naturally filled with warmer and yellow light. Consider green, warm whites, and yellow tones for your walls.
