Finchville is an unincorporated community in Shelby County. Finchville is named after Ludwell R. Finch. An early settler and blacksmith who first came to Shelby County in 1841. Finch built a blacksmith shop and store that was known as “Finch’s Shop”. In 1876 it was established as a post office, and that is when the name Finchville was first adopted.
