LA Mart Exterior Painting by Our Local Team

CertaPro Painters® of Springfield, VA was contacted in September 2022 to bid on painting the exterior of a 21,000 square foot building, the LA Mart. The project in question consisted of painting the siding, doors, small interior areas at the entrance/exit and safety bollards of the facility. After evaluating the bids, the manager selected CertaPro Painters® of Springfield, VA for the job.

Project Details

The building, a large grocery store, is in operation from 8am to 9pm, seven days a week. The building exterior extended up to 35 feet in some area, so a 45-foot boom lift was rented to reach the higher areas of the building. The building conditions along with winter weather conditions presented a number of challenges.  The surface of the building is a combination of masonry and stucco that has a multi color layout.  The manager wanted the building painted even though it was nearly the start of winter.  He hoped good weather would allow the team to finish prior to the Christmas holiday.

Project Challenges

The greatest challenge were two fold. First, our team was to get the exterior painting of the building during the winter months. This mean our team worked to schedule around cold weather––which included rain.  The second major challenge was to paint a full service grocery story that serviced customers from 8am to 9pm seven day a week.  Even moving equipment and blocking off areas to be paint for safety was a challenge as this is a very busy supermarket.

As winters in the Washington, DC area are mild, it was a challenge to schedule around cold nights and rainy weather to complete this project.  Safety was also a great concern as customers regularly ignored areas taped off to limit access to parts of the building that were being painted and could be dangerous.

Even with these challenges in place, our team was able to complete the project in just three weeks!
