It can be difficult to side which route you want to take when it comes to curtains and blinds in your home. Do you do the same in each room or does every room require different window treatments? Whether you go with curtains or blinds, both are unique to each room and situation.
Here are the factors to consider when you are choosing curtains and blinds for different rooms.
Lighting
Consider what the lighting is like in that room. Natural light is a desirable asset to any home. It livens up spaces and makes homes look open, airy and bright. However, you also need to consider whether or not the rooms in question get direct sunlight or not and how this will affect the temperature of the room. If you want some of the sunlight but not all of it, blinds are ideal. In bedrooms where you may want both natural light and complete darkness, look into sun blocking curtains. You can keep them pinned back or close them when you want to relax.
Price
While it might sound ideal to just add curtains and blinds to every room, this can get expensive. You want to focus on the rooms that need the most amount of privacy such as bedrooms. The bedrooms in the home should have both blinds and curtains for privacy and lighting purposes. Other rooms such as laundry rooms or other less important spaces can do well with just one or the other. In summary, invest in a combination of both for bedrooms, living areas, and dining rooms in order to provide ultimate privacy and comfort.
Style
Aside from price and lighting/temperature, style is also very important when it comes to making these types of choices for your home. You want your window treatment to blend well with the rest of the decor in the room and not take away from it. If you have a lot of patterns and colors in your room, go with solid neutral colors for the blinds or curtains. Also, take into consideration the style of your room. Is it earthy or modern? You don’t want to put modern window treatments in a room that is earthy, they will look out of place.
