Durable Exterior Awning Refresh

Project: CertaPro Painters^® of Greenville East, SC, was hired to refresh the exterior awning at Standard Motor Products in Greenville, SC. The awning was in poor condition, with leaks and heavy dirt buildup, and the client needed a durable, long-lasting update that could be completed quickly.

Process: The project began with a thorough power washing to remove dirt and debris from the metal surface. Leaks were carefully sealed using a urethane sealant, preparing the awning for painting. Given the metal surface and the previous industrial oil-based coating, the team applied a high-quality industrial enamel paint for superior adhesion and longevity. The process required careful taping and protection of the surrounding building to prevent overspray, as the awning was a bright blue.

Challenges: The project presented several challenges, including sourcing water from 500 feet away to power the washer and operating equipment with limited onsite electricity. Weather monitoring was critical to avoid rain during application, and strict precautions were taken to protect the rest of the building from overspray. The client was also on a tight timeline, requiring efficient planning and execution.

Result: Over four days, CertaPro Painters^® of Greenville East, SC, transformed the awning into a vibrant, fully sealed, and professionally painted structure.
