At CertaPro Painters® of East Orlando, we believe in transparency and providing you with all the information you need to make informed decisions about your painting project. This FAQ page is designed to answer some of the most common questions our customers have about our services, process, and what you can expect when you choose us as your painting partner. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for here, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We’re here to ensure your painting experience is as smooth and stress-free as possible.

1. Can you match the existing paint color?
Yes, we can match about any paint color in your home using a chip the size of a stamp or larger. Even if you do not remember the original color codes, we can still match the color, including crossover brands (Sherwin Williams to Behr, or vice versa).

2. How often should you paint your house?
The frequency of painting will vary depending, based on numerous factors. This includes the colors selected, the sheen, tree coverage (for exterior paint), the types of surfaces that are painted, and other environmental factors. On average, most homes will need to be painted every 6 to 10 years.

3. How much do painters charge per square foot?
The cost per square foot will vary depending on the type of paint product used, the conditions of the surfaces, how much the color is changing, the number of coats, and a variety of other factors. To get accurate pricing for your home, set up a free estimate appointment with us.

4. If damage is found during the project, can CertaPro Painters® of East Orlando do the repairs?
In most cases, yes, we can do repairs to damages found. This includes patches to drywall, stucco, and light carpentry.

We do our best to find and price out everything that will be needed during the paint project. But if we find some hidden damages, we will discuss the details and cost before moving forward with any additional repairs.

5. Do I need to be home while the painters are working?
No, it is not required that you be home during your painting project. It is up to you if you prefer to be on-premises while the crew is working. However, it is ideal if someone is there at the start of the project to confirm the scope and end of the project to review the finished product.

Your local painting team will work with you to discover your preferred way to get daily project updates.

6. Do I need to move my furniture before the painters arrive?
Our painting team will cover and protect the furniture and floors, but if there is a delicate piece of furniture or an heirloom that is tricky to move, please remove it before your painting team arrives. Additionally, it’s important to have all small, loose, or delicate items removed from the room prior to our arrival to paint.

7. What types of paint are used by CertaPro Painters® of East Orlando?
We primarily work with Sherwin Williams and Behr paints but we’re willing to use other brands if you’d prefer. During the estimate appointment, we will suggest to you what products suit your project.

8. Can I buy the paint and only pay for labor?
In most cases, it will cost more to buy your own paint. We can acquire paint products at much lower prices because of the quantity we purchase and our relationships with paint suppliers. If you have a specific budget, we will discuss what products are the best for your project and try to find a solution for you.

9. Is there a warranty on my painting project?
Yes. Most projects come with a 2-year limited warranty. Click here to learn more about our warranty

10. What are some questions you should ask when selecting a painter?

    • Are you receiving an actual written estimate or just a verbal quote?
    • Does the estimate include all components and materials?
    • Do they have worker’s compensation and general liability insurance?
    • Do they have references and examples of prior jobs?
    • Is there a written warranty?
    • What online reviews does the painter have?

11. Do I need to give a deposit or a down payment?
For residential projects, we don’t collect a deposit or down payment for jobs under $10,000. We only ask for payment upon completion. Commercial projects will have payment terms on a case-by-case basis.

12. What is better, latex or oil paint?
Each project is different, our knowledgeable and experienced team will help you choose the best option for your project based on your requirements and the characteristics of the surfaces that will be painted.

13. Which is better, sprayed paint or hand-rolled?
When done properly, both techniques should produce the same result. One method might result in a lower labor cost or material usage, but this is reviewed for each individual project.

At CertaPro of East Orlando we’ve mastered both techniques. We typically spray paint for exteriors and hand-roll interiors. If you have any questions regarding which painting technique will be better for your project let us know and our team will help you.

14. Is it better to use expensive paints?
Every paint company we purchase from has good, better, and best paints they sell. In general, the more expensive the paint is, the better quality you are getting. More expensive paints contain higher quality chemical components (pigments and resins) which typically results in a product that will perform better.

With that said, it’s more important to make sure the product is being applied correctly and used for its designed purpose. For example, the interior paint will not perform well if applied to an exterior project, no matter how high quality it is.

15. What happens if a contractor’s employee gets injured while painting my property?
If the contractor doesn’t have insurance or worker’s compensation, these costs will be transferred to you. Working with CertaPro of East Orlando has both general liability and worker’s compensation insurance, so there will be no cost to you should an injury occur.

16. How long does it take for paint to dry?
Most latex paint will dry to touch in 30 -120 min but can take up to 1 month to fully cure. We recommend waiting at least a few days before hanging wall decorations back up and a few weeks to a month before attempting to clean a newly painted surface.

17. Does the old paint need to be removed before painting again?
In most situations, no. Properly prepping a surface or using specific primers will avoid the need to remove any old paint. However, if there’s any peeling or flaking paint it will need to be removed before painting.
