Scheduling & Painter Availability
Painting companies are often booked at least a few weeks in advance, the best option is to schedule early and communicate your desired completion date with the painting company. The painting business is very seasonal, and many painters are looking for interior projects through the fall and winter season, it’s not uncommon to get interior projects scheduled quickly.
Prioritize the most visible areas
If on a tight time-frame, you may have to think prioritize the most important elements of the interior that need to be painted. If you have outdated or damaged walls in the dining room or kitchen, those should be higher priority than a guest bathroom, you may be able to do both – but come into your estimate appointment with a rough idea of the most important items for your holiday gathering.
Think about colors
When approaching a paint job that includes several rooms, it’s a good idea to come up with a cohesive palette of colors to work from. This way the hues flow from room to room and the final project is a well thought out and stylish result. Many painters work with color consultants on these jobs. Color consultants are experienced interior designers who can help you with color selection for your space, they provide samples and recomendations.
Focus on where the family gathers
In addition to knowing what you need and what you want, you should focus on areas that will get the most use during your holiday extravaganza. Is the kitchen where you family tends to congregate? Or will you all be seated around the dining table? Do guest rooms need to be freshened up for overnight visitors? Pick the areas where your guests will actually be. There is nothing more frustrating that using your budget and time to paint an area that no one sees.
Kitchen options
One room that is sure to have extra traffic over the holidays is the kitchen. Updating the wall paint is one way to get a clean feel. You also have the option to paint kitchen cabinets. It’s a big-impact and cost-effective way to make sure your kitchen looks new. Kitchen cabinet jobs can take a bit more time but give the most impact for the work.
