Description of Project: The project involved interior and exterior painting of the home.

The interior work started with repairing all nail pops, dings, and stress cracks to walls and ceilings, then we spot primed any areas that were repaired. We scuff sanded, wiped down and caulked all trim and doors. We also primed areas as needed.

The interior painting was performed on all of the walls and ceilings of the first and second floor (excluding the bathrooms). In addition to that, we painted the built-in dining room storage, both sides of all interior doors, and inside of closets. We applied one coat of primer on the first floor areas, one coat of a flat finish on the ceilings and two coats of a satin finish on the walls. The second floor required one coat of a flat finish on the ceiling and two coats of a satin finish on the walls.

For the interior trim work, we applied an oil based primer to all of the natural wood trim and doors and two coats of a semi-gloss finish on the other trim and doors.

What did the project involve? We were contracted to paint the exterior of the home in March of 2023. The exterior work started with prep. We caulked all previously caulked areas in places where painting was being done, scraped and sanded any areas where it was needed including lightly sanding the window sills/frames and doors/frames, we also pressure washed the entire home to remove any dirt, mold or buildup so the new finish coat would adhere properly. The brick required a special solution to be applied in addition to the pressure washing. This is done so the brick gets properly cleaned and prepped so the paint will adhere to the previously unpainted surface.

Once prep was complete we started the exterior painting for the brick, foundation, siding, original wood windows, upper rear deck, front porch floor, downspouts, upper rear door, and all other previously painted trim.

The brick and foundation was painted with two coats of a Loxon flat finish product, the porch flooring was painted with two coats of a porch and floor enamel product, the decking was stained with two coats of a solid finish, and the trim, siding and all other areas were painted with two coats of a satin finish.

Special Challenges: Since there were so many different areas being painted on the interior of the home, we had to be precise in the products, colors and areas being painted to make sure the correct products were applied. We also had to make sure all areas that were contracted to be painted were serviced and serviced correctly.

Special Techniques: The original interior wood trim needed an oil based primer that had to be applied smoothly and evenly throughout all areas.
