Exterior Painting Case Study

Description of Project: This residential project involved comprehensive exterior painting and prep work for a home that needed an upgrade. The siding was the original off-white color, while the accents, including trim, shutters, vents, gutters, and downspouts, were a fading brown.

Project Scope:

Preparation Work:

• Caulking: Re-caulking all previously caulked areas where painting would occur to ensure a sealed surface.
• Sanding: Lightly sanding window sills, doors, and frames to prepare them for painting.
• Scraping: Removing any loose and peeling paint to ensure a firm base for the new paint.
• Pressure Washing: Cleaning the entire home to remove dirt, mildew, and debris, ensuring proper paint adhesion.
• Spot Priming: Priming specific areas that required extra attention.

Exterior Painting: After the prep work was completed, we moved on to painting the exterior, excluding the brick and windows. The areas painted included:

• Siding
• Trim (Soffits and Fascia)
• Shutters
• Vents
• Garage door and trim
• Porch posts and ceiling
• Front, back, and side doors and trim
• Gutters and downspouts
• Shed and shed trim

We applied two coats of the chosen colors, using a mix of three different colors across various areas to create a cohesive and visually appealing look.
