Project: CertaPro Painters® of Boca Raton, FL was hired to update the exterior of a Mediterranean-style home to complement a new dark gray roof. The project included power washing, priming, and painting all stucco surfaces, balcony banisters, aluminum windows and doors, shutters, and fencing. We coordinated closely with the roofing contractor to avoid damaging the new tiles and used specialized techniques to restore worn metal surfaces. The result is a refreshed, modern exterior that blends seamlessly with the home’s updated roof.

Process: The house’s exterior was generally in good condition, but the existing manufactured coatings on aluminum windows, French doors, balcony banisters, and shutters were either chalking or had worn down to bare metal. With a new dark gray concrete roof being installed, the homeowners wanted the rest of the exterior updated to complement the modernized look.

After booking the job, we collaborated closely with the homeowner’s designer to choose a color scheme that would harmonize with the new flat-style roof. The scope of work included painting the entire exterior of the home, which included the stucco, trim, and Garage doors, as well as all metal elements—including balcony banisters, aluminum window and door frames, hurricane accordion shutters, and the property’s railing, fence, and gate.

To begin, all surfaces were power-washed, including thorough cleaning of windows and doors with denatured alcohol. We applied a sealer or primer depending on surface type, followed by appropriate finish coatings tailored to each material. Special care was taken to protect all glass and prepare the metal surfaces using intricate painting techniques to ensure long-lasting results.

The Challenges: Coordinating with the roofing company was essential to the success of this project. The homeowner notified us of the new roof early in the planning process, which allowed us to meet with the roofing coordinator and align our schedules. We began painting after the roof underlayment and fascia were installed, then paused to allow the final roof tiles to be laid—carefully avoiding any work that would require walking on the newly installed concrete tiles.

Result: Over the course of three weeks, the home underwent a complete transformation. The freshly painted stucco and expertly restored metal elements worked beautifully with the dark gray flat-style roof, giving the home an updated, cohesive look. With thoughtful coordination, meticulous technique, and design collaboration, the home now stands out with renewed elegance and durability.
