Tannery House Condo Painting

About the Project

CertaPro Painters® was contacted to lay out a multi-year paint maintenance plan for the Tannery House, a 4 story mid-rise condominium building located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. This 26,651 Square Foot building was built in 1978. The building is not well ventilated and required the use of an air scrubber to ensure clean air quality.

Our local Arlington painters were involved in a lot of planning to match existing paint color and sheen throughout the multi-year painting schedule. It was extremely important to the board of directors that cut lines between walls and crown moulding did not overpass. In this project, floors and trim that were not to be painted were carefully masked off.

The crown moulding, baseboards, window frames and door frames were painted previously with an oil-base paint. The walls, baseboards and doors/frames were cleaned up with a fresh coat of paint. It was important for the board of directors that the painters do not splatter on the carpet and get paint on their crown moulding.

This project involved the use of a matte sheen paint called Scuff-X from Benjamin Moore.  This particular paint sheen is almost as glossy as eggshell. We used this product because minimizing the paint lap marks was our main focus.
