Venetian plaster is a decorative finish that originated in Venice, Italy during the Renaissance period. It is made by mixing slaked lime with marble dust, creating a smooth and polished surface with a subtle texture and a wide range of depth. This is a great application for floors, accent walls, kitchen backsplashes, or bathrooms! Venetian plaster is highly regarded for its durability, making it an- excellent investment for those seeking a long-lasting, low-maintenance finish.
Every Venetian Design Is Unique!
A consultation between you and our artists will help conceive a plan or a design beforehand to ensure a cohesive and intentional look. The possibilities are endless, thanks to the help of a handmade process by using tools such as artist brushes, natural foams, palette knives, and more. Here’s a look at our painting process.
Step 1
Isolate the wall and protect all surroundings, such as floors, and covering furniture and any appliances. Prepare the surface that will receive the application by using putty and sandpaper to make it even.
Step 2
Apply a prime specific for the Venetian process. Priming a Venetian wall is important to create a smooth and consistent surface for the plaster to adhere to and prevent uneven coloration.
Step 3
After it has cured for 6 hours, the application of the product begins. Once the prime has dried, we begin to apply a first layer of Venetian until the entire wall is covered.Let it dry, sand it and repeat the process three more times.
Step 4
Once these steps are finished, we start making the veins and textures by hand. We apply a wax and a polish for a final protective layer.
