Federal IRS Building in Andover, MA

CHALLENGES:

We were contacted two weeks ahead of the project start date to paint a security room in a federal IRS building. Additionally, the client only had five days for us to complete the work. Normally, this would have been a decent amount of time except for the federal security protocols which slowed down the entering/exiting and limited work hours per day.

CONDITIONS:

The room our team was contracted to paint was a security room where multiple monitors/TVs are hung from the walls. To strengthen the walls, plywood was attached to every inch of the wall, and the room had not been updated in 10+ years.

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

First, we removed the vinyl base covers and a new color replaced after painting was complete. The entire floor to ceiling walls on all four sides of the room were completely skim coated three times to create a new smooth surface to hide all the screws and plywood seams.

Next, we primed and painted with a full accent wall (SW9176 Dress Blue), plus another wall that had the accent center on a SW7071 Gray Screen wall. Finally, all floors were scraped and thoroughly cleaned with a commercial grade degreaser & cleaner.
