Interior Winter Color Schemes to Warm up Winter
Posted on November 10, 2022
One of the toughest parts of interior painting is choosing the right color for your home. Interior painting for the holidays is a great time to choose these colors, however, because you’re in the mood to be at home and cozy! The colors you are drawn to at this time usually bring you the most peace and comfort. In this article, we’re here to discuss some of our favorite winter color schemes we’re seeing. These colors are sure to look great over the holidays and last for the year to come. CertaPro Painters® of Willamette, Oregon also offers a free color consultation to make sure you are completely satisfied with your final product.
Roaring Reds
Bring the warmth of a fireplace into the room with the color on the walls. Avoid fiery red and go with a deeper color to get warmth and coziness from the hue. The dismal colors outside are no match for these shades. Try Benjamin Moore’s Chili Pepper 2004-20 or Pomegranate AF-295 to warm your room on even the coldest of days.
Dark Brown
Brown has the potential to be one of the coziest colors out there. Dark brown walls look best when paired with bronze and gold metal décor. Add cream colored pillows and blankets and you’ve got a winter home out of dreams! Try Brevity Brown by Sherwin-Williams or Wenge by Benjamin Moore.
Warm Color Tips
Deep and dark warm colors can make walls feel as though they are closing in on you. This can work for you if your rooms are overly large or narrow. They will provide a feeling of warmth but can also increase stress or appetite. If you are unsure of your color choices, work with a color consultant to get a perfect finished product.
Winter Whites
You cannot think of winter without thinking about snow, ice and well, white. Picking the right white can be very tricky. You’ll want it to be crisp and clean without being stark and barren. White has a bad reputation of being boring, but the right undertones can make it feel modern. A plain color allows your furniture and artwork and style to stand out against it. Try whites like Benjamin Moore’s Super White or Sherwin-Williams Dover White.
Great Grays
Just because gray has taken over outside doesn’t mean it isn’t a good choice for your interior paint. The newest member of the neutral family is an easy to work with color that is sophisticated but easy to work with. Choose a variation of the color that will warm your home but remain stylish. Our pros recommend Sherwin-Williams Light French Gray 0055 or Benjamin Moore’s Tranquility AF-490.
