This interior repaint project took place in the Highland Park community of Avon, Ohio, inside a large 8,000 sq. ft. single-family home. The homeowners were a married couple whose kids had recently moved out, and they were preparing the property to sell. Their main goal was to modernize the home’s outdated wall colors and heavy wood trim to create a brighter, more updated look that would appeal to buyers and improve overall marketability.
The biggest priorities were staying on schedule and coordinating around multiple contractors, including flooring, carpet, and electrical crews, while still meeting a hard deadline for the home stagers. Throughout the project, our team kept communication tight with daily walkthroughs, progress updates, and planning discussions so everyone stayed aligned on what rooms would be worked on next.
Prep and repair work was a major focus, including drywall patching from removed picture hangings, pole sanding, caulking, and detailed sanding of all wood trim. Since the home featured custom woodwork, wainscoting, and specialty ceilings, we used a white pigmented shellac primer to properly seal the wood and prevent bleed-through while ensuring long-term adhesion. Floors and furniture were fully protected using paper, drop cloths, and plastic coverings, with daily cleanup to keep the home show-ready.
Sherwin-Williams products were used throughout, including Cashmere (eggshell) on the walls and Emerald Trim Enamel (semi-gloss) on all converted trim. Colors included SW 7016 Mindful Gray, SW 7029 Agreeable Gray, and SW 7008 Alabaster. Additional services were added mid-project, including painting the kitchen island, basement stairs, and staining a door to match an existing finish.
The final result was a brighter, larger-feeling home with clean modern finishes — and it paid off. The house sold in just three days for more than the asking price, and the homeowner was thrilled with both the transformation and the communication throughout the project.
