Description of Project: The project was set out to refresh the home’s exterior by applying a limewash finish to the brickwork. The homeowner desired a softer, more subdued look for his home’s exterior, aiming to reduce the intensity of the red bricks and roof. Our task was to carefully select and treat the bricks to achieve a harmonious, antique look that aligned with the homeowner’s vision.

What did the project involve? Day 1: The project commenced with a thorough power washing of the brickwork, preparing it for the limewash application. The bricks were left to dry for 24 hours, ensuring a clean and absorbent surface for the limewash to adhere to effectively.

Day 2: Our crew began the meticulous application of Romabio Limewash Paint, employing brushes to apply thin layers on selective sections of the brick. To achieve the desired chalky finish and reveal the natural brick surface beneath, the paint was gently wiped off with a rag. Throughout the process, the homeowner was actively involved, selecting specific areas of brick exposure to ensure the final look precisely met his expectations. The collaborative effort resulted in a distinctive antique appearance that significantly enhanced the home’s exterior charm.

Special Challenges: Unlike typical painting projects, this limewash application did not require any special equipment. However, a unique challenge was ensuring the homeowner’s satisfaction with the selection of bricks to be highlighted or toned down as the project progressed.
