Unitarian Church Exterior Painting

Project: CertaPro Painters® of Staten Island was contacted to bring this church exterior back to life. The church was originally built in the 1800s and hadn’t been updated in quite some time. The cedar shingles needed to be cleaned and repaired along with the trim and windows.

Process: Our team began with a low-pressure power wash on the cedar shingles and trim. Once the surfaces were clean, we replaced any damaged or missing pieces. The trim had some loose and peeling paint that we scraped and removed. We caulked all gaps and holes, and once the area was prepped, we applied a solid stain to the shingles and an exterior wood primer to the trim followed by an exterior latex paint.

As for the windows we had to remove each window to allow access to the windowpanes. All loose peeling paint and old glaze was then scraped off and the team got to work reglazing each window. These windows required extra attention and care because of their age and how fragile they were.

Result: Overall the project took 3 weeks to complete, and everyone loved the new look.
