About the Project:
Scope of the Project:
The commercial painting project at Homewood Suites in Falls Church, VA, took place in August 2024 and was completed in just five days. The hotel, which serves both business travelers and tourists visiting the Washington, DC, area, remained open throughout the project, requiring careful coordination to minimize disruptions to guests.
The primary goal was to repair and repaint the lobby ceilings and entrance wall, addressing drywall damage and covering thermal staining that had affected the ceiling’s appearance.
The project involved multiple phases, including drywall repairs, priming, and applying two coats of matching paint to the ceilings. The team also repainted the entrance wall leading to the front desk.
Challenges & Solutions:
Since the lobby ceilings reached a peak height of 25 feet, ladders braced against support beams were used to access the highest areas. Due to the hotel’s 24/7 operation, all work had to be performed between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., ensuring that guests were not disturbed and that the lobby was fully cleaned and operational before the 6:00 a.m. breakfast service.
Close collaboration with hotel management was essential to the project’s success, as maintaining guest safety and accessibility was a priority. Despite the challenges of working overnight and keeping the area hazard-free, the project was completed efficiently and met the hotel’s aesthetic and functional needs. The refreshed lobby now provides a welcoming and polished first impression for guests.
