The Texas Bookman
Commercial Case Study
The Texas Bookman Painting Project
This building is an office/warehouse facility for The Texas Bookman, a division of Half Price Books. The building in located in the western part of Dallas in a warehouse district. Most of the building is a tilt-wall structure with aggregate, but there are smooth concrete areas that are painted. The paint in these areas was badly faded and weathered. Our CertaPro team power washed all painted surfaces, and painted in a fresh new color that restored the branding of the building.
Conditions:
Most of the building is a tilt-wall structure with aggregate, but there are smooth concrete areas that are painted. The paint in these areas was badly faded and weathered. CertaPro power washed all painted surfaces and painted in a fresh new color that restored the branding of the building. The washing, prep and painting was completed within the time frame communicated to the customer, and done in such a way as to avoid disruption to ongoing activity at the building.
Challenges:
We used a boom lift throughout the project.
Project Involvement:
This project was all prep and painting of concrete tilt wall, metal doors and steps, metal coping around the top of the building and areas around bay doors.
Special Challenges:
Much of the work required access via a lift. This is a working facility, with 18-wheeler trucks pulling up to bay doors throughout the day, and leaving their trailers to be emptied and loaded. There are also employee vehicles that typically park next to the building, and we had to coordinate restricting parking to ensure that there was no overspray on vehicles.
