When the Prototype and Plastic Mold Company was recently acquired in Middletown, the new owners decided to give the facility a fresh new look after years of neglect. The property has two major issues facing it, the first being a completely faded and worn looking exterior, and the second being heavily neglected landscaping.
CertaPro Painters of South Central CT was contracted to repaint the exterior, which was a mix of metal sheathing and a large decorative fiberglass soffit that wrapped around the top of the office portion of the building. The office portion itself was clad in simple stone block material that wasn’t to be repainted.
Before the work began a great deal of debris was removed from around the property, and the overgrown shrubbery, trees, and weeds were all cut down and hauled off to allow for access to the facility. Once the building was more accessible the entire exterior was power washed. repairs were made to the fiberglass soffit paneling and the building had minor caulking and prep work performed on its metal skin.
Once the prep was done the building was painted using a “spray and backroll” technique with the low-lustre paint being applied via a spray rig and then rolled smooth using paint rollers. The soft ground around the building dictated that reaching the higher portions of the building would be best done with ladders rather than a scissor lift.

After the grounds were cleaned up and the overgrowth was removed, the building was prepped and painted by our expert commercial painters. The low-luster paint and dark color give the building a rich look and the building itself looks virtually new again. Considering that the landscaping and painting were overdue, and highly cost effective, it’s amazing how dramatic the transformation is relative to the total cost.
