Paul Henson YMCA – Exterior Painting Project
Project: This project was for the exterior of the Pan Henson YMCA in Prairie Village, KS. The facility is known in the area for its indoor pool and gym used by the local community.
Upon our initial inspection, we found the original paint was faded and peeling badly in several areas, the building was due for an exterior painting project.
Process: Our initial prep work involved scraping all the loose and peeling paint off the building, and power washing all of the surfaces that would be painted. Once the surfaces were dry from the power washing a coat of primer was applied to the bare areas of the exterior.
The color selected for the exterior was a bright blue that gives the building a stand-out look from the road. The light blue shade took several coats of paint to get a bright and clean appearance. We also had to be mindful while painting the front entry way, we coordinated with facility mangers to make sure the business could remain open while the project was being done.

Front Entrance Before
The tower near the front entrance had severe fading and rust forming along the trip, some areas near the door had peeling and failing paint.
Front Sign - Before Painting
The maroon strip along the top of the building had also faded to sun exposure, weather, and time. This area will be updated to a darker blue as part of the project.
After
Once work was completed, more images were taken to show the difference in look.
Front Entrance - After
The front entrance was painted with a clean white look, all areas with failing paint were scraped and repaired.
Tower - After Painting
The bright blue tower at the front of the building was updated and now has a modern and clean aesthetic.
