Overland Park Arboretum
Project: We did this project for the City of Overland Park KS. The work took place at the Arboretum and Botanical gardens. The bridge is 40 feet long and stretches over a creek. This is the Claude Monet Garden and is to match the bridge in the painting “The Water Lily Pond”.
The bridge had been coated at least four times by volunteers using serval different products. All of the layers of paint were failing and peeling.
Process: The project required us to set up a dust collection system to keep debris out of the water. We also had to remove all the existing coatings of paint and rust from the bridge by using hand grinders to get the bridge down to bare metal.
The bridge is in a busy area of the gardens. So we had to shut down access to the area from the public. We had to use scaffold over water areas. Also we had to use special two part primers and top coats to coat the bridge.
