How much will it cost to paint my home’s interior?

A room-by-room guide to our interior pricing:

Budgeting for a painting project starts with knowing what to expect cost-wise, so we’ve put together this room-by-room breakdown as a helpful reference. Keep in mind that the figures listed here represent typical averages — your final price may vary depending on the specific conditions and details of your project.

In general, these things will affect the cost of the project:

1. The number of surfaces we’ll be painting will affect the price. Are we painting just the walls, or will the job also include trim, doors, baseboards, or crown molding?
2. Are you planning a significant color change? If you’re switching from a light shade to a dark one or vice versa, your project may require additional coats of paint to fully conceal the original color. That extra coverage adds both labor and material costs to the project, which will be factored into your final estimate.
3. Are items hanging on the walls? Our standard pricing does not include removal of items hanging on walls.
4. One thing that won’t affect your price is our in-home designer who helps you choose colors that work with your current furnishings. This is a free service once you choose us as your painter.

The factors above are just a starting point to give you a better sense of what to expect. We’ve put together some examples based on common room sizes below. All pricing assumes 2 coats of paint for wall ceiling, trim, and door. Each room is priced starting with the walls, with additional surfaces added from there. Standard prep work is included for every surface including covering furniture with plastic, light sanding, caulk and prime if needed. Keep in mind prices are estimated and subject to change at anytime.

* This is based on 9′ Ceilings. Price is per 2 coats of paint.
Ceilings and Walls over 9′ High would be priced as follows:
10′ Ceilings: An additional 15%
14′ Ceilings: An additional 20%
18′ Ceilings: An additional 30%

Prices are based on 2 coats of paint.

Mid-grade paint such as Sherwin Williams SuperPaint. Choosing a decent paint matters, and will almost always save you money.

Decorative substrates push a job beyond standard prep and will reflect an additional cost in an estimate.
