Kitchen and Bathroom Makeover in Sandy, UT
In June 2020, CertaPro Painters® of Salt Lake City, UT was contacted to assist in the renovation of a Sandy, UT home interior. The kitchen and adjacent bathroom looked outdated with its knotty pine cabinetry and the walls needed to be revitalized with a fresh coat of paint. Two teams were used to complete the project, painting the walls in February and finishing the cabinetry in June.
CHALLENGES:
Interior projects present their own set of challenges to the CertaPro team. The kitchen and bathroom required proper communication among the team members and coordination with the homeowners, as the work was completed over two different time periods.
CertaPro was equipped to handle the renovation project, mitigating one of the main hurdles that was present. The team used their own professional spray booth at the CertaPro office for extra space and to gain the desired finish to the cabinet doors.
CONDITIONS:
- Outdated Finish – The knotted wood cabinet finish was an outdated look, requiring a more contemporary touch
- Worn Walls – The walls had muted tones and looked dull due to the elapsed time since the last painting
- Limited Space – The kitchen offered little in the area of extra space, requiring the use of CertaPro’s office for refinishing
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
- Prep – The kitchen and bathroom were prepped and taped, and the cabinet doors were removed to be painted elsewhere
- Paint – The walls and cabinets of the kitchen and adjoining bathroom were painted with a fresh white, updating the look of the home’s interior
PROJECT TIMELINE – 5 days
INTERIOR PAINTING PROGRESS
During the project, CertaPro’s team took pictures of the kitchen and bathroom progress to document the specific sections they would be renovating for the homeowner.
Outdated Cabinets
The cabinets had an old knotted pine appearance to them in need of a contemporary upgrade for the kitchen and bathroom.
Kitchen Preparation
Kitchen prep took place to prevent any accidents affecting the other items and sections in the kitchen.
Bathroom Vanity Prep
The vanity cabinets in the adjacent bathroom was also taped and ready for refinishing to offer a uniform look with the kitchen.
CertaPro Professional Booth
CertaPro used their own spray booth to paint the doors with an even finish.
Finishing the Cabinet Doors with a Professional Spray
Miguel and the CertaPro Team took advantage of their professional spray booth to efficiently finish an array of cabinet doors. Under normal circumstances, a kitchen cabinet project can take up to 3-4 days. Using the spray booth, CertaPro Painters® is able to complete these assignments in a third of the time.
