Commercial Painting Project in American Fork, UT
In April 2020, CertaPro Painters® of Salt Lake City, UT was contacted to assist in restoring the Xlear Inc. headquarters (pronounced ‘clear’) in American Fork, Utah. Xlear Inc. essentially produces products that are of use in the medical field. Their 27,000+ square foot facility is comprised of office and laboratory space, along with a shipping and receiving dock area.
CertaPro’s professionals were asked to renew the exterior of the building. A color change was also part of the project, giving Xlear Inc. some added appeal. Smaller sections, including doors and bollards also received a makeover for an all-encompassing new look.

Challenges
Projects of this magnitude have their own unique set of hurdles. Communication with the building administration and coordination among the team is paramount to efficiently complete the project with a professional finish.
The height of the building created another obstacle for the CertaPro team. A boom lift was necessary to reach the higher and hard to reach sections of the headquarters. The settling cracks in the buildings concrete were also a concern, as some rose to 10 ft. from the ground.
CONDITIONS
- Faded Color – The buildings color was muted through years of exposure to the elements and sun without a repaint
- Peeling Paint – Paint was peeling in multiple areas including the bollards that surrounded the property
- Cracked Concrete – The concrete had large cracks running from the ground due to the building settling over time
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT
- Preparation – The building was power washed and certain areas were masked before applying the new coat of paint to the Xlear Inc. headquarters
- Painting – The exterior of the building was painted using a boom lift and a new design was added to the top of the structurePROJECT TIMELINE – 6 days
BEFORE PHOTOS
Before the project began CertaPro’s team took pictures of the headquarters, noting the areas that would need renewed. The entire exterior, along with small sections surrounding the building, required the attention of the team.

Settling Cracks
Due to the building settling, large cracks had formed in the concrete up to 10 feet high.
Doors and Trim
Doors and trim were also in poor shape around the building, even rusting in certain areas.

CertaPro professionals took pictures as the project was in motion. The building was masked and cleaned to ensure a professional finish when the paint was applied to the structure’s surface.

Large sections of the building were prepped at once so the painting could be completed efficiently.

Each side of the building was prepped to ensure an all-encompassing, professional look.
Small Sections Taped
Control boxes and other small sections were taped off so the team could cleanly paint around them.

After the project was complete, CertaPro Painters® of Salt Lake City, UT gathered images of the new finish of the building. Xlear Inc.’s transformation added a wonderful and bright new appeal to the exterior.
