A Returning Commercial Customer
Our commercial team of painters was recently hired to refurbish a scoreboard on a local football field. This is not the first or last project we have done for this customer, they have also had us do their baseball scoreboard and a lot of their other outdoor sports facilities.
The height of the scoreboard, including the flags at the top, was 50 ft in height. We had to remove all existing stickers before we could begin painting; these stickers had been up there for as long as the customer can recall.
About the Project:
Condition of Facility:
The adhesive and stickers were a lot of work to remove, then we needed to repaint the existing red color as it was extremely faded. We also had to be careful around the electronic portions, as well as using a 60 ft lift to access and work around high school summer football camps that were happening on the field at the same time.
Project Involvement:
This project involved painting the metal components on the scoreboard as well as the removal of all stickers/decals.
Special Challenges:
We had to work while summer football camps were on the field as well. The heat paired with the adhesive also made it tricky to ensure it was all removed properly so that the new paint would adhere to the surface correctly.
Also, the net that was hooked up in front of the scoreboard to protect it from getting hit with the football was extremely time consuming to remove as they had it installed individually to a tension rod along the bottom of the scoreboard; that took our crew quite some time to remove and reinstall at the start and end of the project.
