Home Renovations to Tackle this Spring
Posted on March 31, 2020
Spring gives us the urge to clean and spruce and tidy. The shining sun and blooming flowers can be inspiring. With all the beauty outside, you want the interior of your home to be just as welcoming. Here are home renovations to tackle this spring.
Kitchen
The kitchen is so much more than where you cook. It’s the heart of the home. At a party, where does everyone end up? The kitchen. Create a welcoming gathering space but cleaning up winter dinginess. Splatters and stains can make your kitchen look less than fresh. Take the opportunity this spring to add some new color and update the room. To allow the walls to remain fresh-looking, pick a glossy or semi-gloss finish. This will protect the pigment and allow for easier mess clean up.
Patio and Porch
Use the warmer weather to get outside and spruce up your inside-outside areas. Take a weekend to paint your porch or patio with a new coat and a fresh take. Consider adding some style to either area with intricately painted stairs or a faux carpet made with paint. The areas will be perfect for welcoming you home or hosting evening drinks this summer.
Driveway
Driveways can take a beating over the winter months. With added precipitation and melting and freezing water, it could be looking worse for ware. Small cracks from last fall are not deep crevices that make your exterior look tired and old. To begin, repair the cracks with a cement repair kit. Afterward, consider painting your driveway for a fresh looking house. A simple black or color paired to your home can make all of the difference.
Windows and Trim
It’s likely that over the winter, your caulk around your windows and trim has expanded and contracted one too many times. This causes it to get stiff, brittle and break. To repair where it is old or missing, pull off the old caulk where you can. Replace it with a paintable caulk. Once it is completely dry, use the same color to paint over it and make the repair invisible.
Add Color
It could be time to add some colors inside or outside of your home. Use a weekend to create a new design element inside or outside of your home. A simple accent wall, updated bathroom color or the new front door can reinvigorate your home. Any of these projects is minimal work and cost while creating maximum changes.
