Exterior Upgrade for a Global Packaging Company

In spring 2025, the team at CertaPro Painters® of Reading, PA partnered with the global packaging leader Sonoco Products Company to complete a large-scale commercial exterior painting project at their facility in Hanover, Pennsylvania.

The project involved refreshing the appearance and protection of a high-traffic industrial site while working within the tight operational constraints of an active business environment.

About the Project:

Project Involvement: 

Over the course of the project, our team repainted more than 35,000 square feet of CMU block and concrete foundation across all four sides of the facility.

The building had not been painted in many years, and the surfaces showed significant wear—faded and peeling paint, bare areas, and unpainted sections of newer block. To restore the building’s professional appearance and provide long-lasting protection, we began by pressure washing, scraping, and spot-priming as needed before applying a fresh coat of paint using professional-grade sprayers.

The result was a clean, revitalized exterior that not only enhanced the facility’s appearance but also contributed to the longevity and protection of its structure—all completed on time and with minimal impact on daily operations.

Special Challenges: 

This project required thoughtful coordination with the facility management team to minimize disruption to Sonoco’s ongoing operations.

Special scheduling was arranged for pressure washing and painting around critical areas like loading docks and rail access zones, ensuring business could continue uninterrupted.

Trailers and train cars were temporarily relocated to allow access, and our crew worked efficiently to complete those sections promptly. Additionally, a combination of a 45-foot articulating lift, ladders, and sprayers allowed us to safely reach difficult areas, including behind three silos and along the rail-access side of the building.
