Painting a Popular Venue

This venue opened July 3, 2003; built by United Concerts. It seats up to 25,000 people (7000 fixed and 18000 lawn). The amphitheater is owned and operated by Live Nation Entertainment. It’s located 16 miles from the Salt Palace Convention Center, 15 miles from downtown, and 11 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport.

About the Project:

Condition of Facility:
We were tasked with painting the area directly over the stage. The scope was to paint the mountain design as well as the area below that. The portion of the stage that was painted was made of corrugated metal and had not been painted in 15 yrs.

Project Involvement:
The project required a very specific and tight time frame and a large amount of scaffolding to complete this project efficiently.

Special Challenges:
The largest challenge was the time constraints. The entire project: scaffolding going up, prepping (power wash and scrape), painting, and scaffolding take down all had to happen within 5 days. Our trailers were waiting to start on Monday at 7am as a performer’s trucks left. The job itself broke down like this: 3 days to set up, 1 day to paint, and 1.5 days to take down. We had to be done and gone by Friday at 4pm because the next performer’s trailers were arriving at 5pm.
