Residential Case Study
Residential Painting Project in Crown Point, IN
Project
CertaPro Painters® of Northwest Indiana was hired to complete a whole-home interior painting project in Crown Point, Indiana. The homeowner wanted to update the interior with a clean, modern look while addressing surface damage and imperfections throughout the home. The project involved repainting ceilings, walls, trim, doors, windows, and select bathroom vanities.
The walls had multiple areas of wear, including nicks, abrasions, and holes left by outdated security system boxes. The goal was to restore a smooth, uniform appearance across all rooms, while maintaining the integrity of the client’s recent upgrades, such as refinished hardwood flooring.
Process
The project began with drywall repairs to ceilings and walls, followed by two coats of premium paint for a uniform and durable finish. All trim, doors, and windows had previously been stained and required a bonding primer before painting. These surfaces were then finished with two coats of high-quality paint for a smooth, consistent appearance.
Special care was taken to protect the homeowner’s recently refinished hardwood floors, using protective coverings to safeguard against dust, traffic, and paint. Given the scale and complexity of the home, which included spaces with ceilings up to 18 feet high, the team utilized extension ladders and scaffolding for safe and efficient access. An airless sprayer was also used for the trim, doors, and windows to achieve a pristine finish.
To help minimize disruption, the project was scheduled to begin during the customer’s 10-day vacation. Daily updates were provided throughout their absence. Additionally, color samples were applied to help finalize the finish for the front door.
Challenges
Several factors made this project more complex than a typical repaint. The home was occupied by a large family of 13, along with multiple pets, requiring the team to maintain a safe, clean environment throughout the process. Protecting the recently refinished flooring added an extra layer of attention and care. The height of certain areas required specialty access equipment, and the use of an airless sprayer demanded precision to maintain clean lines and a uniform finish.
Frequent touchpoints with the homeowner were key. The team conducted a detailed scope review, proposal walkthroughs, and two pre-job visits to align on logistics and expectations.
Result
The project was completed within the three-week timeline and to a high standard of quality. The interior was transformed with a fresh, consistent finish throughout, and all previously damaged surfaces were restored. The homeowner was extremely pleased with the results, noting that the attention to detail, cleanliness, and ongoing communication exceeded expectations. The new paint not only refreshed the aesthetic but also complemented the recent renovations, completing the home’s upgraded look.
