Project

Crown Point Community Library serves as a central gathering place for residents, hosting a wide range of meetings, events, and community functions throughout the year. To maintain a welcoming and well-maintained environment, the library partnered with CertaPro Painters® of Northwest Indiana to refresh three large community meeting rooms and a heavily used connecting corridor. These spaces experience consistent public traffic, making durability and scheduling coordination key priorities.

The primary objectives were to:

• Repair wall surfaces impacted by ongoing public use
• Refresh finishes to improve appearance and longevity
• Complete work efficiently to minimize disruption to library operations and scheduled community events

Process

A detailed site assessment was conducted to evaluate wall conditions, scope drywall repairs, and plan production around library hours and community usage. Work sequencing was carefully coordinated with library staff to ensure meeting spaces remained available when needed. Interior coatings were selected specifically for durability, cleanability, and performance in high-use public environments.

During execution, floors, fixtures, and furnishings were carefully protected in all meeting rooms and corridors. Surface preparation included drywall repairs to address dents, wear, and surface imperfections, followed by sanding, patching, and priming to create smooth, uniform substrates. Interior wall coatings were then applied to restore a clean, updated appearance throughout the spaces.

Ongoing oversight by the Project Manager and Job Site Supervisor ensured consistency, quality workmanship, and alignment with project timelines.

Challenges

The primary challenge involved completing work in spaces actively used by the public. Clear communication and flexible scheduling allowed the team to work around planned community events and daily library operations. As a result, production was completed without interrupting services or displacing scheduled gatherings.

Result

The refreshed meeting rooms and corridor now provide a clean, professional environment that enhances the overall community experience. The updated finishes are designed to withstand frequent public use while maintaining a welcoming aesthetic. Library staff and patrons experienced minimal disruption throughout the project, and the improved spaces continue to support educational programs, meetings, and events year-round.
