Commercial Case Study
Cedar Creek Health Campus
Project
Cedar Creek Health Campus, owned and operated by Trilogy Health Services, initiated a campus-wide interior refresh to modernize its high-traffic corridors. The existing vinyl wallcoverings were aging and beginning to fail, impacting both aesthetics and long-term maintenance. The project scope included the removal of vinyl wallcoverings, repainting corridor walls, and refreshing door frames and guardrails, all while maintaining a safe, calm, and fully operational healthcare environment for residents and staff.
The primary objectives were to:
- Remove failing vinyl wallcoverings and properly prepare wall substrates
- Specify coating systems that provide extended durability in high-traffic healthcare environments
- Complete all work with minimal disruption to resident care and daily operations
Process
A comprehensive site assessment was conducted in 2024 to evaluate existing conditions, safety requirements, and logistics for late-2025 production. Careful planning ensured the selected coating systems would withstand the demands of a healthcare setting. Durable, washable finishes from the Sherwin-Williams Pro Industrial line were specified to provide long-term performance and ease of maintenance.
Work was carefully phased in coordination with Cedar Creek facilities management to avoid disruption to care operations. The execution process included:
- Protection of floors and installation of plastic containment systems
- Ventilation measures to control dust and maintain air quality
- Removal of existing vinyl wallcoverings
- Sanding and washing of adhesive residue
- Drywall repairs, floating, and priming to restore smooth wall surfaces
Corridor walls were finished with a durable interior acrylic latex for enhanced washability, while door frames and guardrails received a Pro Industrial water-based urethane to provide added protection against impact and wear.
Ongoing documented quality control walkthroughs were conducted by the Project Manager and Job Site Supervisor throughout production. Upon completion, a final Pride Walk was held with Cedar Creek leadership and the CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana team to confirm satisfaction and project standards.
Challenges
The primary challenge was operational sensitivity. Maintaining uninterrupted patient care during active construction required detailed planning, consistent communication, and close coordination between project teams. Work areas were carefully managed to ensure safety, minimize noise and disruption, and preserve a calm environment for residents.
Result
The project was completed on schedule and within budget. The upgraded finishes now reflect the quality of care provided to residents while offering durable, maintainable surfaces designed for long-term performance in a healthcare environment. Cedar Creek Health Campus leadership, staff, and residents provided positive feedback on both the transformation and the professionalism of the project team.
