Project

Cicero Matteson Property, LLC recently acquired a vacant car wash with plans to modernize and reopen the site. As part of their revitalization strategy, they reached out to CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana to refresh the building’s curb appeal with a vibrant, modern color palette. The project included repainting the brick façade, metal doors, and bollards to reflect a clean and inviting look ahead of the facility’s reopening.

Process

The project began with a full site assessment on July 9, 2025, to evaluate surface conditions and plan logistics. Sherwin-Williams A-100 Exterior Acrylic Latex was selected for its excellent coverage and appearance on masonry surfaces, while Sherwin-Williams Pro Industrial DTM was used on metal elements like man doors, bollards, lintels, water valves, and curb blocks for added protection and industrial-grade durability.

Color selections included:

• Brick Substrate: Bedrock Gray (SW 9563)
• Doors & Curb Details: Real Red (SW 6868)
• Bollards & Accent Areas: Hyper Blue (SW 6965)

Work was coordinated with the property owner to align with other ongoing construction activities and to ensure the exterior would be ready in time for the property’s reopening.

Execution began with power washing of all surfaces, followed by caulking and light sanding where needed. Two finish coats were applied to all areas. Before starting the application, a quality control walkthrough was conducted by the CertaPro Project Manager and Job Site Supervisor. Upon completion, a final Pride Walk was conducted with the full team to review the results.

Challenges

This project presented two primary challenges. First, the team was tasked with a quick turnaround to meet the client’s timeline, which required working from sunrise to sundown each day to stay on schedule. Second, the exterior painting had to be completed alongside other active construction, including plumbing and concrete crews. This required careful coordination of lift operations and material staging to ensure the painting team could work efficiently without interfering with the progress of other trades on site.

Result

The project was completed ahead of schedule, with all work executed safely and efficiently despite the active job site. The newly painted car wash now has a bold, refreshed look with modern colors that give it strong visual appeal. CertaPro’s team worked seamlessly around other contractors and received positive feedback from the property owner, who was pleased with both the final result and the professionalism displayed throughout the process.
