Schedule an Estimate

You have questions, we have answers! Below are some of our clients’ most Frequently Asked Questions about residential painting projects.

How long is the estimate good for?

Typically our estimates are good for one year. Some specials and discounts are limited-time offers and have an expiry, but the estimate itself would remain current as long as the scope of work has not changed.

Do you offer discounts?

CertaPro Painters® of Nova Scotia partners with CAA to offer members a discount on projects. The year-round special is 5% off and 5% back in CAA Dollars. For October and March, we offer 15% off the price of your project before tax.

How much do you charge per square foot?

At CertaPro Painters® of Nova Scotia, we do not use square foot pricing to determine residential painting projects. Rather, we use the square footage to calculate the number of hours and gallons a project will take to complete. Factors such as trim, preparation, repairs, power washing, and any additional required services are taken into account on an individual project basis.

Can I get a rough estimate over the phone?

Yes, please feel free to call our office at 902-425-7554. If our sales team is out on the road, please leave your information, and they will call you to discuss the project. We can usually work through things with you and give a price range. However, a visit from our Residential Sales Associate is required to confirm pricing.

How long does it take to paint a room?

Usually, a room can be done in a day. Factors such as drywall repairs or multiple coats can take longer as there is a dry time required between stages.

How long does it take to paint a house?

The time it takes to paint the interior or exterior of a house varies depending on size, repairs, and the number of different paint colors used. Our Residential Sales Associate can give a timeline at the time of estimate. When a crew is assigned to your project, they will be there from start to finish before moving on to another and will be able to give you an accurate end time based on the number of painters and type of work. They will inform you daily of the schedule and progress.

How often do I need to paint my house?

Statistically, interiors are usually painted every 6-12 years and exteriors every 5-8 years. Interior paint typically lasts longer than the exterior, as it is not exposed to the elements, and often people want to update the look before the paint actually fails. Exteriors need to be maintained more frequently due to weathering. Factors such as the type and age of substrate can affect how long paint will last on a surface. We use proper preparation techniques combined with high-quality products to provide the most long-lasting finish possible.
