New Painting Ideas for Your Home Office

Posted on November 16, 2020

Home offices are getting more use than ever this year, and some of us working from home are looking for ways to freshen up the space. There are a variety of creative ways to spruce up a home office with paint, see below for a few ideas.

Accent Wallsaccent wall

One accent wall can greatly enhance the look and feel of a room. Having one bold wall can change the focal point of a room and bring new energy to the home workplace. Contrarily, a plain accent wall can create a subtle change that gives some opportunity for other decorations around the wall, things like a map or a whiteboard can work well to enhance the wall and make it a productive space.

Ombre Walls

Ombre has taken over. It’s in clothes, nails, hair, and now walls. This technique is a stylish step up from the traditional accent wall. Paint the ombre color in a horizontal line with the lighter hues towards the top and dark towards the bottom. This will also give you a faux vaulted ceiling in the room by drawing the eyes upward. Get creative with the colors you choose, as well as the direction of the ombre.

Color Washing

Color washing is a technique that blends two colors together in a printed sort of effect. Typically the base color is painted on in a neutral shade. The wash should be at least two to four shades from the main color on the color wheel. Our professionals suggest a vivid or primary color on the wall with a muted or darker color over it. This will give you a vintage and texture custom look in your room.

Writable Paintwhiteboard-wall

There are two main options for writable paint, either chalkboard or whiteboard. For most office applications we recommend using whiteboard over chalkboard to reduce dust in the room that will eventually make its way into the fans of computers and electronics in the room. Writable paint gives you the ability to make an entire wall into a creative surface where you can brainstorm ideas or keep a list of tasks that need to be done updated.
