CertaPro Painters® of Mystic-Glastonbury, CT was contacted in April, 2021 to paint 7 buildings in 2021. All had peeling paint, cracks in the wood, faded paint and bare spots. The crew washed, prepared, spot primed bare wood and applied two finish coats to each building to brighten them up for the visitors of Mystic Seaport.
Mystic Seaport is the largest maritime museum in the United States. It is notable for its collection of sailing ships and boats and for the re-creation of the crafts and fabric of an entire 19th century seafaring village.There are approximately 50 buildings on site that are in various states of needing paint. Located off Route 27 on the Stonington side of Mystic and nestled close to the Mystic River, the Mystic Seaport is a key cog in the tourism trade of Mystic, CT.
To complete the project, CertaPro Painters® of Mystic-Glastonbury, CT crew washed, scraped, caulked, primed, and painted each building with two coats. CertaPro members also wore masks throughout the project and met all set deadlines.

CHALLENGES:This unique project brought on its own set of challenges. For example, strict time frames were key to success. We did battle the spring weather but put enough painters there on the good days to complete the project on time. As the work was done during the pandemic, the painters were masked up at all times. CONDITIONS
- Rough Exterior: All 7 buildings had peeling paint, cracks in the wood, faded paint and bare spots. CertaPro washed, prepared, spot primed bare wood and applied two finish coats to each building to brighten them up for the visitors of Mystic Seaport.
- Specialized Requests: CertaPro Painters® had to glaze windows, as glazing was required on the Bank, Drug Store, Shipsmith and Gardner Buildings.

- Matching Color: CertaPro Painters® matched all existing colors and received color codes from the Facilities Department for the buildings.
- Securing Coat: Since the area has a lot of visitors, CertaPro washed, prepared, spot primed bare wood and applied two finish coats to each building
