Old Pillsbury Garage
Completely repainting this unique Pillsbury-style garage was a project which CertaPro Painters of Minnetonka, MN was contracted to complete in May of 2022. This project presented a range of different challenges to our team, most notably the 60 foot tall tower attached to the garage, which demanded a creative approach to renew.
Prep Work
While in great condition structurally, the paint of this garage was beginning to show several signs of deterioration. Along the sides of the garage, paint was chipping away from the siding. These damages were made more noticeable by how the paint of the fascia and soffit along the roofing and gutters was beginning to show signs of water damage. In addition to these issues, the frames of the windows and the garage doors along the front of the building were beginning to show signs of discoloration.
Each of these issues demanded of our team to work at heights as tall as 60 feet. To tackle the challenges presented by this project, we employed the use of a bucket lift and a team of fearless, expert painters who were well-trained to paint at elevation!
Challenges
As can be seen in one of our previous commercial painting projects, our team is not unfamiliar with taking on projects at elevation. Coming into this project then, our team had to take that prior experience and use it to reach new heights and take on painting an intimidating 60-foot-tall tower. With a large amount of work needed on the tallest extremities of the building, our crew needed to work in a way that prevented any overflow of paint to the lower portions of the building without compromising their safety and the quality of the work being done.
Pictured here, you can see how our team went about addressing this challenge. A tarp was spread over the areas of the roofing that could potentially be exposed to overflow, and scaffolding was constructed alongside the windows to provide safe platforms for our team to work on at the lower levels of the building.

The Finished Product
When our painters finally stepped off the lift and back onto solid ground, one could never have told that this garage’s paint was once in a state of decay. In just five days, our team renewed this garage to the delight of the owners and those who were keeping their vehicles within it. The signs of wear and tear along the siding of the tower and main building were gone, and a fresh coat of paint along the edges of the roofing provided the building with a pop of color that made it look brand new. The sleek coat of white paint juxtaposed by black accents that our painters gave this building provided a bright, more modern style that drew emphasis to its unique design.
