Exterior Farmhouse Painting in Rockland
by CertaPro Painters® of Maine
Exterior Farmhouse Case Study
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT
In August 2025, CertaPro Painters® of Maine completed an exterior restoration of a historic 1856 farmhouse in Rockland. The project involved a full scrape, prime, and paint of the residence to address significant peeling paint. Due to the age of the home and the presence of bare wood on the attached barn, our team utilized specialized oil-based primers to properly seal the wood and prevent tannin bleed-through.
CHALLENGES
The primary challenge arose during the preparation phase when our team uncovered significant wood rot. This required immediate carpentry attention, as the siding, sheathing, and underlying studs all needed to be replaced to restore the home’s structural integrity before painting could continue.
PROJECT TIMELINE
The project was completed in one week.
THE FINAL RESULTS
The project successfully restored the home’s structural integrity and exterior. After rebuilding the damaged walls, new paint was applied to protect the historic 1856 structure while maintaining its classic look. The result is a durable, weather-tight finish that will protect the home for years to come. Check out the transformation photos below!
