Porch & Outdoor Kitchen Pavilion Painting

An out-of-state homeowner reached out to CertaPro Painters® of Maine to revitalize the natural wood porch ceilings and outdoor kitchen area of their property. They wanted these beautiful features refreshed and protected from the elements, ensuring they retained their charm and durability for years to come.

To begin, we power washed all included surfaces using a solution of TSP and bleach. This thorough cleaning removed as much mold, mildew, and dirt as possible, creating a clean and stable surface for the refinishing process. After drying, we scuff sanded all the surfaces to promote strong adhesion and achieve a uniform finish, a critical step for both aesthetics and longevity.

For the porch ceilings, we applied one coat of Benjamin Moore WoodLuxe Semi-Transparent Stain, which beautifully enhanced the natural grain and color of the wood. To ensure lasting protection against the outdoor elements, we followed this with two coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane, a high-performance coating designed to shield wood surfaces from UV rays, moisture, and temperature fluctuations.

In the outdoor kitchen pavilion area, we also applied two coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane. This provides a durable and weather-resistant finish, ideal for a space that experiences exposure to both moisture and frequent use.
