Our Renovation and Painting Project in Freeport, Maine
The customer called us in the spring inquiring about painting the exterior of her home. Our estimator went out to her home to assess how much work needed to be performed to achieve her vision for the exterior of her home.
What our estimator found surprised him – even after doing this type of work for many years.
The home was in bad shape. Much of the wood siding was rotted, split or loose. There was no way our painting would look the way we would want it to with the condition the wood was in at that time.
The good news is that CertaPro Painters® of Maine provides light carpentry services in addition to their painting services. The customer was so relieved because she didn’t want to go through the process of finding a carpenter or contractor.
The total price for the carpentry work and painting was included in the quote the customer received the same day she called, and she let us know she would schedule the job towards the end of summer.
How We Tackled the Project
Our crew had to replace 1/3 of the cedar clapboards around the house. Many of the window sills were also rotted and needed to be replaced.
In addition to a lot of new wood, the wood that wasn’t replaced was going to be a completely different color – from blue to grey. This meant a lot of work had to be performed to ensure the resulting paint color was what the customer desired.
Our painters in Freeport removed, replaced, primed, painted, and caulked all the new clapboard. They scraped and sanded the wood that was replaced. The entire exterior of the house was primed and then painted the new color. Two coats of paint had to be applied to give it an even, smooth, and perfect appearance.
Equipment Used
Since the house had high gables and peaks, we had to use 40-foot ladders and ladder hooks to reach. This was no problem for our team, as we have the equipment and tools needed for all types of painting projects – residential and commercial.
