Residential Exterior Painting Case Study

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT

In October 2025, CertaPro Painters® of Maine completed a residential exterior painting project for a home in Harpswell. The exterior featured faded siding along with newly installed raw wood batten boards, which required proper oil-based priming before finishing.

The scope of work included a thorough power washing to remove surface contaminants, scraping all loose and failing paint, and applying primer where necessary to ensure proper adhesion and long-lasting results. Once preparation was complete, we applied two coats of Sherwin-Williams® WoodScapes® Solid Stain to all siding and trim. To properly coat the aluminum sliders and window frames, a bonding primer was used to ensure durability and a smooth, consistent finish.

CHALLENGES

The primary challenge of this project was the late-fall timing. Cooler temperatures required careful scheduling, with work beginning later in the morning and wrapping up by 2:00 PM each day to allow sufficient time for the coatings to cure and dry properly.

PROJECT TIMELINE

The project was completed in 1 week.

THE FINAL RESULTS

The completed project significantly revitalized the home’s exterior, restoring rich color, uniform coverage, and a clean, polished appearance to the siding and trim. Be sure to check out the before-and-after photos below to see the transformation!
