Over the course of this painting project, we took our clients aged old cabinets from dated to fresh and classic. The Cabinet Painting Process
Natural wood cabinets take a lot of work. All the doors and hardware will need to be removed. For this particular project, all bases and doors needed to be sprayed. We had to seal off the entire room with tape and plastic to protect the other surfaces in the room.
After the room was prepped, all of the cabinets and bases need to be washed and degreased. This washes away any hand oils from the cabinets and allows paint to adhere to the wood.
After the wash, all cabinets and bases will get sanded down. Then they can each be coated with an oil based primer, scuff sanded again, and primed with an Extreme Bonding primer. Once the priming is finished, the doors and bases get sprayed with 2 finish coats paint, with scuff sanding between each coat.
