We were recently called out to a home in the Eliot, ME community to complete an exterior paint color change. When we arrived the home needed some repairs completed before we could begin the painting process. The homeowners were pleased with how the transformation turned out and so were we! About the Home
The cedar shakes were heavily covered in mold mildew, as well as dead wood fibers on cedar shakes that needed to be pressure washed off prior to applying new stain. This painting project was completed in July 2021 over the course of approximately 10 days.
Project Involvement
When you decide to have the exterior of your home painted, there are quite a few steps that go into the project. We began with a pressure wash, light scraping and sanding, light carpentry, masking off windows and doors and then a coating with new solid stain. Washing off the debris and dead wood fibers was a challenge, and took about twice as long as washing a house with clapboards. Then cedar shakes were removed and replaced where needed, especially the rows near the ground, and on dormers where water and snow splash back or sit.
