What is the best way to paint white over white?
When it comes to using white paint to cover a previous coat of white, there’s more that goes into it than you may think. With more than 100 different shades of white, it’s important that you keep these tips in mind.
- If you are simply repainting a surface (trim, for example) with the same exact white paint that has the same sheen, you can probably get by with just one coat.
- If you want to repaint the surface with the same shade of white but want a different sheen, multiple coats will be necessary.
- If you are painting over a white surface with a different shade of white, multiple coats will be required due to the low amount of pigment in the paint.
In summary, not all shades of white paint are equal. Different shades, sheens, condition of surface, and amount of pigment all determine how many coats will be required to get the job done. And most importantly, get the job done right.
