What is the Best Way to Paint Kitchen Cabinets? Part 2 of 3
In the second installment of this three part video series, Gene Helm and Hunter Story showcase two different wood cabinets with equally different levels of grain. While both kitchen cabinets have been painted with the same paint and primer, they each have their own distinct appearance. The cabinet on the left is a smoother wood with minimal visible grain, while the grain on the other cabinet (oak) is highly pronounced.
CertaPro Painters of Louisville recommends the cabinets get the following treatment:
- Lightly sand down the cabinets.
- Prime them.
- Apply the final two coats of paint with the color of your choice.
The short video below shows just how big of a difference a fresh coat of paint can make!
As mentioned in the video, the grain will remain on the cabinets after the final coat of paint is applied, preserving that charming aspect of your kitchen. Painting kitchen cabinets is one of the most cost-effective ways to modernize your kitchen and extend the life of the favorite room in your home!
