Green Top Hunt & Fish is a local business that has been a staple here in Hanover County for over 75 years. For the last seven years, they have been doing an outdoor expo event and for their 75th anniversary they wanted to kick it up a notch… with the worlds largest shotgun shell! They partnered with a local sheet metal fabricator to construct it and contacted CertaPro Painters to paint the foundation. Finally, the shell was wrapped by another small business here in the Hanover Airpark. It was a team effort by several local small businesses that turned out exactly how Green Top visioned.
Being the worlds largest shotgun shell, Green Top Hunt & Fish knew it would be an attraction for pictures. They wanted to make the horizontal surface as skid resistant as possible. With that being said, we mixed sand into the first coat of Benjamin Moore Command to provide as much traction without taking away from the appearance of the shotgun shell
Our Painting Process
As you can see from the photo on the left, the shotgun shell/foundation was constructed of aluminum. We prepared the foundation for painting by cleaning it with denatured alcohol.The project involved painting the foundation of the worlds largest shotgun shell.
- Clean the entire surface with denatured alcohol
- Apply one coat of Inslex STIX Primer
- Apply the first coat of Benjamin Moore Command mixed with sand to provide a skid resistant surface
- Apply the final coat of Benjamin Moore
