CertaPro Painters® of Frederick, MD Gives Back to the Community

Posted on April 12, 2021

Since 2019, CertaPro Painters® of Frederick, MD, has been working with Waterboyz for Jesus, a ministry group that performs acts of service for the community and supports other charitable groups.

Paul Foss, founder and president of Waterboyz for Jesus, was the childhood hockey coach of our Sales and Production Manager Keith Stears, which is how Keith learned about the group’s mission. Since one of the ways the group gives back to the community is by performing home renovations for people in need or those going through serious life changes, Keith knew he wanted to get CertaPro Painters® of Frederick, MD, involved.

In November 2019, Keith saw an opportunity on the group’s Facebook page to help renovate a family’s trailer that burned to the ground a month before Christmas. He reached out to Paul and asked how his franchise could get involved.

After a construction company redid the entire trailer, Keith and his crew were able to repaint it, all in one day. To start, they applied a primer and followed it with two coats of paint. They also performed minor drywall repair between coats. Additionally, all of the paint was donated by Sherwin Williams.

Although COVID slowed things down in 2020, CertaPro Painters® of Frederick, MD, was able to get involved with the Waterboyz of Jesus again in February 2021. When a stay-at-home mom struggling with addiction went into a long-term care treatment center, our team was able to step in and paint her entire house after other companies gutted and restored it.

Now that things are slowly opening back up, Keith and his crew expect to work on 1-4 projects per year with the Waterboyz for Jesus.

“This ministry is very near and dear to my heart,” says Keith. “I’ve known Paul my whole life and love working with him. Being able to help people through tough times is so important to me. Anytime I can donate my time or money, I’m all for it.”
