Commercial Epoxy Flooring for Echo Brewing in Loveland

Scope of the Work:

Extensive surface preparation was required before the new flooring systems could be installed. In the back-of-house and bar areas, concrete surfaces were profiled using diamond grinding equipment. Walk-behind grinders, hand grinders, and palm sanders were used depending on the location and accessibility of the surface, with HEPA vacuum attachments used to capture dust during preparation.

Existing adhesive and compromised surface-layer concrete were removed as needed. Raised brick sections were removed using a hammer drill, while uneven and low areas received floor patch to create a more suitable substrate for the new coating system.

The back bar required a different preparation process. Existing vinyl flooring was completely removed so the underlying subfloor could be inspected. Damaged portions of the subfloor were removed and replaced, and backer board was installed as part of preparing the area for its new flooring system.

Once preparation and repairs were complete, a multi-coat epoxy floor system was applied throughout the designated back-of-house and back bar areas. The main kitchen received a porch and floor enamel resurfacing system to refresh the worn floor and restore protective coverage.

Challenges & Solutions:

One of the most significant challenges was the variety of substrate conditions encountered throughout the facility. Rather than applying the same preparation method everywhere, the crew adjusted its approach for each surface. Residual adhesive required grinding and removal, raised brick required mechanical demolition, low concrete areas needed patching and leveling, and the back bar required removal and reconstruction of portions of the existing flooring assembly.

Careful sequencing was especially important once the epoxy coating process began. The designated floor areas had to remain completely closed to foot traffic, including employees, vendors, and other trades, for the duration of the coating process. This required precise coordination with the facility operator so the crew could complete each stage without other activity interfering with surface preparation, application, or curing.
