SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:

The project covered the entire exterior of the home and detached garage, including siding, trim, windows, doors, porch features, railings, and gutters.

Preparation began with EPA-compliant hand washing instead of traditional power washing to prevent lead contamination. Crews then completed extensive hand scraping of failing paint, followed by targeted priming with Sherwin-Williams PrimeRX Peel Bonding Primer and thorough caulking to seal joints and gaps.

Premium Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint Acrylic Latex in satin finish was applied for lasting durability, while the garage, porch details, and stained railings received specialized finishes to protect and refresh every surface.

UNIQUE CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:

The most significant challenge was the presence of lead paint throughout the property, requiring strict EPA-certified lead-safe practices.

Our RRP-trained crew implemented full containment, PPE, and specialized waste disposal methods to safely remove deteriorating coatings. Because this property is located in a busy University North neighborhood and was tenant-occupied, we also coordinated closely with residents to schedule work with minimal disruption.

Finally, heavily deteriorated surfaces demanded extra scraping and multiple coats of primer to create a stable base for topcoats.

PROJECT TIMELINE:

The project was completed in just one week, despite the additional safety protocols and tenant coordination required. By finishing on schedule, the property management company was able to maintain their renovation timeline while ensuring the safety of residents and neighbors.
